We are now providing a secure nurse portal to enable an applicant or licensee to submit an application of various types. It will be necessary to access the nurse portal for renewal, name changes, password changes, address changes, email changes, user name changes, licensure by endorsement, licensure by examination, multistate conversion application, and employment information.
The Louisiana-PN Nurse Portal works best on Windows desktop PC or laptop in Chrome or Internet Explorer 11+. Mobile devices are not supported (for example: phones, iPads, tablets).
Louisiana LPNs must renew their license annually beginning on November 1st through January 31st. If your license is not renewed during this period, your license will expire. You may not work on an expired license.
Our renewal requirements have not changed. LPNs are still required to renew their licenses during the renewal season – November 1st through January 31st each year. Applying for a multistate license DOES NOT replace the need to renew an LPN license.
A licensed practical nurse in Louisiana must renew their existing license prior to the expiration date to maintain an active unencumbered license.
CLICK HERE to sign in to Nurse Portal to apply for a multistate license in Louisiana. Once signed in, scroll to the "Other Applications" section, choose "Apply", then select "Multistate Conversion Application".
Effective July 1, 2019, all students and LPNs must create a Nurse Portal account for LSBPNE. All current licensee information will be housed in your Nurse Portal. To complete all applications, including your renewal application, and to view all other information regarding your LPN license, you must access your Nurse Portal account. Creating a Nurse Portal account is a one-time process. Please remember to write down your username and password for your future use when logging in the Nurse Portal.
Please note you must have a valid email address in which you are able to access and receive emails in order to complete this process. You will enter your complete email address when prompted, and this will become your username for the account along with a password you create. The email account on record for you will be the email address where all correspondence from the Nurse Portal is sent along with any up to date board information.
To create your account for the first time, from the Nurse Portal sign in screen, you would choose the option to “Create an Account”. Once you have read and agreed to the terms and conditions, the next screen will ask “do you have or have ever held a license with the Louisiana State Board of Practical Nurse Examiners?” Choose the best answer and then continue. If you have or have ever held a Louisiana LPN license, the next screen will allow you to search for your license by either your name or your Louisiana LPN license number. If you are searching by your name, select the name that has your matching Louisiana LPN license number. You will then be asked for the last four digits of your social security number and your year of birth. If the information you enter does not match our system, you will need to restart the registration process again.
After the account is created, you will sign in to your LSBPNE Nurse Portal to handle everything – applications, address changes, name changes, renewals, multistate conversion applications and more.
NOTE: The Louisiana-PN Nurse Portal works best on a Windows desktop PC or laptop using the Chrome or Edge browser. Mobile devices are not supported (for example: phones, iPads, tablets).
